Community guidelines

CatchBadge is a community of anglers sharing real, verified catches. These guidelines keep it a place people trust. By using CatchBadge you agree to follow them. Breaking them can mean your content is removed and your account suspended or permanently banned.

Post only your own genuine catches

  • Share catches you actually made. Don’t post someone else’s photo, a photo from the internet, an edited or AI-generated image, or a catch that isn’t yours.
  • Don’t impersonate another angler, business, or organisation.
  • Don’t try to fake or game verification.

Keep it lawful and respectful

  • No illegal content, and no content that is abusive, harassing, bullying, hateful, threatening, or sexual.
  • Treat other anglers with respect. Disagree without personal attacks.

Zero tolerance: illegal content and child safety

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and any sexual content involving minors is absolutely prohibited. We remove it immediately, permanently ban the account, and report it to the authorities (in the UK, the National Crime Agency / CEOP, and the Internet Watch Foundation).
  • Other seriously illegal content — credible threats of violence, incitement, and the like — is removed, may result in a ban, and may be reported to the relevant authorities.

Respect privacy and fishing marks

  • Don’t share other people’s personal details, and don’t reveal someone’s precise fishing mark or location without their agreement — anglers guard their marks, and so do we.
  • Only share information that’s yours to share.

Photos of other people

  • Don’t post photos of identifiable people without their consent.
  • Be especially careful with children. Don’t post a photo of an identifiable child (anyone under 18) unless you are their parent or guardian, or you have the guardian’s consent.

Reporting, and what happens next

  • See something that breaks these guidelines? Use the Report option on the catch. Reports are private — the person you report is not told who reported them.
  • We review reports and, where a catch breaks the guidelines, we remove it and may suspend or ban the account, depending on how serious it is.
  • You can also block an angler at any time — you and they will no longer see each other’s catches or profiles.
  • Report in good faith. We won’t penalise you for reporting something you genuinely believed broke the rules. Don’t abuse reporting to harass others.

Appeals

If your content is removed or your account is actioned and you think we got it wrong, you can appeal by emailing rob@catchbadge.com. We aim to acknowledge within 5 days and resolve within 14 days (the complaints timescale in our Terms). We’ll take another look and put it right if we made a mistake.
